Equity

DEFINITION OF EQUITY!

When selling a domain name, give me one good reason why someone would buy your domain name? If a company is already in existence and have already branded themselves why should they buy your domain name. Is your domain name short and descriptive or an acronym? Is your domain name a top level domain extension.

The only way a company is ever going to buy your domain name is if has any of the following:

  1. The company wants to re-brand themselves and wants a one word domain name.
  2. The company does not own a tld domain extension matching your searchable keyword domain name.
  3. The company is looking to acquire more traffic and is looking to set up a seo link wheel.
  4. Is looking to acquire an email list.
  5. Is looking to acquire your traffic.
  6. Is looking to acquire your equity, such as stocks and assets.

My advise is: set up a website, help generate traffic for the would be investor and give them something that you can bring to the table other than just a domain name. People lack imagination and if they can see you have made an effort they may think that your idea is viable. By simply presenting a domain name 9 times out of 10 you will be rejected.

World Wide Virus (Coronavirus)

www.worldwidevirus.com

With the Coronavirus taking its toll on Global Buisness, I have been asked to broker this domain name www.worldwidevirus.com my first impressions were who would buy this and ruled out any Government Instituation. But Health Care Organizations and Pharmaceutical Companies could use this domain to their advantage. The Coronavirus I believe to have been deliberately orchestrated will be the first of many diseases that will find themselves infecting people around the world. This is Germ Warfare at its finest, silent but deadly. The domain name could also be a title to a book or a movie.

Money Laundering & Domain Names

Money Laudering & Domain Names

Money Laundering and Domain Names on my mind. As mentioned in my book that I wrote www.domainpowerbook.com I have always had my doubts about some of the domain names that have been sold in previous times for ridiculous amounts of money. Obviously the domains that are highly sort after dot coms can command high prices or domains which have equity attached with the domain. But when it comes to domains that online domain valuations and Google have low value for, but then you hear they have been sold for mind blowing amounts of money, you have to think is there an ulterior motives attached with the sales.

I for one always ask for a commission agreement form to be signed between the seller of the domain and myself. If the domain is sold for more than £1,000 I always ask both parties to fill in a due diligence form in accordance with “The Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Transfer of Funds” (Information on the Payer) Regulations 2017 / Part 230 of the General Rules and Regulation of the Securities Act of 1933

You can download a copy of this form and change the footer of the document, all you need is to copy and paste the wording into a word document and save it.

Due_Diligence_Information-General-Report

So why Have I decided to write about this today I hear you say……

Well I received and email from https://domainnamewire.com/2020/02/13/feds-allege-man-laundered-money-through-domain-names/ In which a very colourful character by the name of “Larry Ray” whom on February 11th was indicted by the federal prosecutors for sex trafficking, extortion, conspiracy and other charges allegedly using the domain aftermarket to launder criminal proceeds.

One wonders what does the IRS think when large amounts of money are transferred surely this alerts authorities and send red flags. Banks especially want to know where the money comes from, I do not know about the United States but for the UK for sure they want to know where the money comes from and where it goes to. How does one justify paying 6 or 7 figures for a domain name to their accountant and if it is just a domain name alone without equity unless it was one word dot com how can one explain the transaction.

I always build websites for the domain names and show that the cost of web development, hosting and SEO as well as how much traffic is being generated. Nine times out of ten unless it is a highly sort after, a domain name does not sell if it is not developed not for high prices anyway unless there are questionable motives behind the sale.

So the moral of the story is if large amounts of money are being exchanged always cover your back and insist on a contract and a due diligence form to be be filled in accompanied but relevant documentation to authenticate the person/persons making the transactions.

If you want a copy of a contract that you can use for your own purposes, do not hesitate to contact me and I will send it to you by return.

Happy Reading Everyone!

“Right To Be Forgotten” GDPR Ruling.

Right To Be Forgotten Ruling.

Did you know that the GDPR rule only applies to the UK and EU? Did you know that search engines such as Google do not have to comply with any enity whether it is an individual or company wishing to have their digital data removed off the internet?

Google wins landmark right to be forgotten case. Written by Leo Kelion -Technology desk editor – https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-49808208

According to Google they may consider removing a search result further afield such as sensitive information – if in fact a person once committed a criminal offence or had an extra-marital affair – if the details are judged to be “inadequate, irrelevant or no longer relevant or excessive”.

But what happens if Google deliberatly ignore a request where they are putting someone’s life in danger? If a search result shows the name of someone that has detrimental consequences for that individual, what happens then?, surely they are breaching the human rights act?

According to: https://www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/human-rights-act/article-8-respect-your-private-and-family-life

It states that:

Article 8: Right to privacy

  1. Everyone has the right to respect for his private and family life, his home and his correspondence.
  2. There shall be no interference by a public authority with the exercise of this right except such as is in accordance with the law and is necessary in a democratic society in the interests of national security, public safety or the economic well-being of the country, for the prevention of disorder or crime, for the protection of health or morals, or for the protection of the rights and freedoms of others.

Therefore if search engines refuse to remove a listing that is deemed as endangering a persons life, they should be made accountable.

If the GDPR ruling is just for the UK & EU and not for the rest of the world then it is not worth the paper it is written on.

The law should force search engines that put people’s lives in danger to remove the data off the world wide web and not just for the UK and EU. If a search engine fails to remove a search result from the www and it is proven that the search result may cause harm to the said individual then the search engines are in breach of the human rights act #Google

Also what happens if this search result not only causes endangerment of life it causes the said individual to loose business because of the search result, who will compensate the individual?

Larry Page is an owner and co-founder of Google. Although he is now Chief Executive Officer of the parent company of Google – Alphabet. He gave up most of his Google responsibilities to Sundar Pichai who was appointed new CEO of Google. Therefore Sundar Pichai and Larry King should both be held responsible.

So correct me if I am wrong, I do not claim to know anything about Law but do look at this citation I have screenshot from https://gdpr.eu/article-24-responsibility-of-the-data-controller/ where it say the controller (webmaster/web owner) whether they are in the EU or not if they publish anything they are accountable by Intenational Law.

So regardless if you are in the UK or EU you are also governed by International Law.

https://gdpr.eu/article-50-countries-outside-of-europe-cooperation/

Therefore GDPR cannot just state that your data is only protected in the UK & EU, if you happen to be are a resident of the UK or the EU, your data is also protected in 50 countries around the world. Hence companies such as Google cannot throw their weight around and should be accountable by law.

I know for a fact that one person’s life has been put in jeopardy because of “GOOGLE”.

Your comments are welcome 🙂

https://www.hairstylescool.com/

I have just come across this blog https://www.hairstylescool.com , do check it out and its handy to view hairstyles for both men and women all on the same site, beats skimming through tons of magazines at the hairdressers to show your hair stylist an example of the hairstyle you want on the day of your hair cut.

Its been long overdue but I do have a website for sale for a Business located in Cardiff. Originally I built it for a hairdressers but the deal went belly up after the photographer who worked there at the time doing photoshoots tried to scam me.

So I was left with a website that needs a bit of TLC https://www.cardiffmakeovers.co.uk I have had it for some time now and know that one day someone will take it off my hands, so I do not want to give it up just yet. It has exact match searchable keywords and is ideal for a hairsalon or make-up artist. There is even a photo of my daughter on the gallery page, second photo on the right from the top.

Obviously it would need alot of SEO and marketing but it has been generating organic traffic for a while now, so some lucky person is going to have this gem oneday.

I can duplicate similar hairsalon and make-up artist domain names from other locations providing they are available. Ususally if the TLD domain extensions have gone there is also a chance for suitable Gtld extensions.

Anyone reading this with a startup idea, please contact me and I will be happy to discuss a means of going forward. I am only a phone call or email away.
