GODADDY EARLY Auto Renewals.

Yesterday 27/03/18 I wrote “Has anyone else experienced this, Godaddy are renewing .co.uk domain names a fortnight before renewal date”?

When I pulled them up about it they blamed Nominet and said Nominet have enforced all registrars to auto renew .co.uk domains in Advance.

I then phoned Nominet who said this is nonsense and they have made their legal department aware of the situation.

Has anyone else had a similar experience or is it just me?

Anyway yesterday I was told I would get a refund and was told to cancel my domain name which I did.

Godaddy took payment 14 days before renewal date. WATCH OUT PEOPLE, GODADDY ARE AUTO RENEWING .CO.UK DOMAINS 14 DAYS IN ADVANCE.

Moving on today I received an email saying they could not give me a refund.

I immediately went on the phone today and asked for a refund and was told by the first rep that they could not refund my card but they could renew a different domain name.

I insisted I wanted to speak with a manager or supervisor and by coincidence I got cut off.

Being like a dog to a bone I was not going to let this lay, so I phoned them again but this time I said I would phone Nominet and cause big problems for them if they did not give me a refund and to no suprize I got my confirmation email saying that I was having a refund. smiley

Google are no better with their bullying tactics and have been fined millions for blocking third party pay per click advertising. So with me threatening to use Bing they were not phased by this and I now know the reasons why!!

I have now turned off auto renewal on all my domain names and will use my desktop calendar to remind me and you should do the same.
